More than 30 years of teaching have taught me that two students can struggle with exactly the same passage for completely different reasons. Finding that reason—and giving each student the tools to solve it—is where effective teaching begins.
Individualized Teaching
I teach the student, not simply the assignment. Lessons adapt to how each student learns and what is actually preventing progress.
Healthy, Efficient Technique
Breathing, balance, alignment and coordinated movement are integrated into flute technique from the beginning.
Rhythm & Musicianship
Students learn to hear, feel and understand rhythm and musical relationships—not simply reproduce the notes on the page.
Learning How to Practice
Students learn how to identify problems, isolate them and work through them effectively, developing the skills to become increasingly independent musicians.

45 minutes provides the right balance for most school-age students—enough time to work thoughtfully on technique, musicianship and repertoire without extending beyond a student's productive concentration."
Lesson Rates
STUDIO LESSONS:
$75 per 45-minute lesson
Typically $300 in a four-lesson month.
IN-HOME LESSONS:
$87.50 per 45-minute lesson
Typically $350 in a four-lesson month.
Tuition reserves a regular weekly lesson time. Please see Studio Policies for scheduling, cancellation and make-up policies.
A successful private studio depends on mutual respect for each
student's progress and for the lesson time reserved for them.

Private lessons are offered by appointment at my home studio in South Escondido, California 92025.
The complete address and arrival information will be provided when a lesson is scheduled.
IN HOME LESSONS
In-Home flute lessons are available by appointment in select North County San Diego communities, including Escondido San Marcos, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos, Poway, Mira Mesa and Del Sur.
